Our partnership with Save the Children

The healthcare system in Yemen faces severe challenges, including a shortage of medical staff, damaged infrastructure due to ongoing conflict, and a lack of essential medicines and equipment. Additionally, access to healthcare is extremely limited, 49% of health facilities1 are either partially or non-functional due to staff, financial and power shortages, as well as lack of medicines, supplies and equipment. There is a ratio of 12 health workers per 10,000 people.1

Save the Children is a global NGO dedicated to improving the lives of children through healthcare, education, and protection from harm. Operating in over 100 countries, it strives to ensure every child could  thrive and achieve their potential.

The partnership between Sanofi GHU and Save The Children is crucial for enhancing the prevention, identification, and management of diabetes and other NCDs in Yemen. The partnership focuses on strengthening systems and service quality for diabetes management, improving diabetes detection and care at primary healthcare levels, and enhancing approaches to NCD prevention and risk reduction.

Focused in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate the program will directly support over 79,000 children and adults over two years by:

  • strengthening capacity within communities and government health services
  • developing systems to improve the prevention, identification and treatment for diabetes and other non-communicable diseases
